Electromagnetic (EM) position sensors rely on intensity and phase of magnetic fields. Early EM tracking systems tended to be affected by metallic objects, and particularly ferromagnetic instruments or objects in the field. Recent developments in EM tracking technology have made them much less prone to distortions and inaccuracies from metal. Modern EM tracking systems offer much potential due to their small size and because they do not require a line of sight between the detectors and emitters. With careful selection of materials and methods, it is possible to incorporate these systems into accurate and robust systems. Traxtal has been developing our
magnetic tracking solutions since 2000. Our accuracy work has been
presented and published in conferences and journals for many years.
Our EM tracking solutions have been rigorously tested and have been
determined to be safe and effective. |
